Experienced in the Courtroom. Committed to the Client.

T. Alexander Newman is an experienced criminal defense attorney whose career has been devoted to representing people accused of serious crimes. As a felony trial attorney and public defender in California and Indiana, he has represented thousands of clients in matters ranging from misdemeanors to murder, attempted murder, sex offenses, armed robbery, burglary, drug crimes, and other major felony allegations. He has tried a myriad of felony cases before juries and has handled demanding, high-volume caseloads involving complex evidence, numerous witnesses, and potential life sentences.

Alexander earned his Juris Doctor with a concentration in Criminal Defense & Prosecution with Honors from California Western School of Law. He is a graduate of the National Criminal Defense College Trial Practice Institute. His advocacy skills began developing well before law school. At Ball State University, he served as captain of the debate team, was named a National Educational Debate Association All-American Debater, and received Best Speaker honors in the Crossfire Division at the 2008 NEDA National Tournament. He was also a high school Indiana Rotarian State Speech Champion. These experiences taught him to analyze difficult issues, think clearly under pressure, and communicate persuasively—skills that remain central to his courtroom practice.

Alexander approaches every case with disciplined preparation, strategic judgment, and respect for the person whose future is at stake. He believes clients deserve candid advice, direct communication, and a defense tailored to the particular facts and goals of their case. Away from the courtroom, Alexander is a former high school tennis coach who still enjoys playing competitive tennis, a pursuit that reflects the preparation, resilience, and composure he brings to his work as a criminal defense attorney.
